New software developers are shaking up the market

In the online gambling world it can be easy to slip into a routing of playing games made by the “big 3” of developers.

NetEnt, Microgaming and Playtech can sometimes seem to dominate the online gambling market with their software, particularly with BetSoft being under a bit of a cloud right now, and Sheriff/Blue Gem gaming slipping off the market.

But it doesn’t have to be this way, there are some great new developers out there that nobody knows about. In fact, you may have played some of their games without even knowing it.

Let’s take for example Jokerizer, acclaimed to be one of the most ground-breaking slots of recent times, that is from none of the “big 3”. It is the flagship slot game from Yggdrasil Gaming.

Yggdrasil aren’t that new, they’ve been around for a couple of years and they’re not as high profile as their fellow Scandinavians from NetEnt, but based on the quality of their work so far things are about to change.

Another awesome new developer is Quickspin that brought us some off-the-wall slots like Beowulf and Big Bad Wolf that some of you have surely played. To top off their portfolio, Quickspin is also responsible for the exquisite Royal Frog slot.

But it’s not just slots that are seeing something of a revolution, but table games as well – for instance Thunderkick, another Scandinavian entity, recently brought out an innovative take on BlackJack, called ‘Player’s Choice’, where you get to choose from 5 different hands as to which you think has the best chance of beating the house.

Another innovative developer that is not from the Nordic region this time is NextGen. They’re an Australian studio, part of the NYX Gaming Group. Some of their work include the Judge-Dredd tie-in slot and the legendary (in every sense of the word) Merlin’s Millions and its follow up, Merlin’s Magic Respins.
