The
Basics of Roulette
Roulette
means “little wheel” in French. It is without a doubt one of the most
popular table games in any casino - land-based or online. Roulette consists
of a large wheel featuring 38 equally spaced divisions that are numbered
from 1 to 36 with a ‘0’ and a ‘00’ at opposing ends. A marble ball is
used for play and there is a table for placing your bets printed on
the table. The numbers on the wheel are rotated in pairs of odd and
even numbers. There is also an alternation between the colors red and
black. Only the ‘0’ and the ‘00’ boast the color green. The betting
chart, printed on the table, is arranged in a three columned, twelve-numbered
grid. The numbers are placed in sequential order, with their squares
either black or red, corresponding with their respective colors on the
wheel.
The
Objective of the Game
The objective of roulette is to determine on which number and/or color
the ball will finally land. The players bet against the House by placing
their wagers on the betting chart. Then the wheel is given a strong
spin. Keep in mind that the ball is not dropped on the spinning wheel
until the total amount wagered goes beyond the minimum. The ball is
placed on the upper outer rim of the wheel, where it simply goes round
and round until it loses its force and drops down into one of the wheel’s
numbered pockets.
